Since last posting we have had several classmates "found". The list stands at 48 and Bill has a line on the 49th so when the list hits 50 I'll email the group for all to see who they are. I hope many old friends are reconnected from all of this. I know Bonnie and Marsha have reconnected since we began. That came about on the wchs63reunion Facebook site.

A wonderful thing about "friending" on Facebook is the ability to share photos. One of our classmates put up a pic; a very proud grandma with her 8 beautiful grandkids. Another is posting shots of his road adventures. How great it is to see folks getting so much pleasure out of life.

Not all of us are so blessed or so adventurous, maybe some are more so, but we all have a lifetime of stories to share.

I thought the challenge of finding classmates for our 50 year class reunion was going to be a bit of fun. Last night ruined that thought when I found an obituary for a lost classmate, a friend I grew up with on Alwood St.  Steven Bergthold and I made string-can telephones and strung them across the street, we invented skateboards with 2x4's, we smoked our first snuck cigarette out behind the pigeon coop.

His obituary tells me he made an important difference in many lives. He impacted my life and now, learning of his death, I am flooded with feelings and thoughts I don't know how, or want, to express. Goodbye, Steve old pal.

I am absolutely in a rut. Pour some Buffalo Trace over ice, sit down in front of this computer and type my current brainwaves into the blog. With luck and after a glance at the homepage and/or the facebook page the result is something of value to others of my ilk left here. Today, there is good news.

Last night 4 new names were added to the found list on the WCHS63REUNION.com website. Cliff Dunseth came through with three and Tom Biermann added the fourth.

How many times have you heard, "It's a small world!"  Well, it really is because one of the new finds turned out to be living about a 2-iron from old friend Tom Hendrickson. So I asked Tom to walk down the path, past the tennis courts, knock on the door and get reacquainted. Carol is going to be surprised.  Should be fun.

Sue Hunter has the book from the last reunion (I missed it) and has a bunch of names and contacts from it to add to the list. When I get those I'll add them to the website if their email is still good. There may be somewhere a committee person from than reunion with an email address list on their computer. Speak up, if so.

Today, two new names are added to the found list on the homepage! That gives us 35 classmates we have contacts for, however four of them are kind of on the pending list awaiting Cliff's email input:  Tom Bearmann, Gary Braucher, John Wheeler, Carol Jacobs Kinder. Also, there's a possibility Cliff can get info on Mike and Pat Palmetier. We sure hope so!!

John Wheeler did respond positively on the Classmates reunion announcement. Yeah John!

News Flash:  Sue has located the little blue book from the last reunion. There are lots of emails in it to confirm and add.

The site for our 50 year class reunion has been decided...

October 5th, 2013

Desert Princess Country Club
28-555 Landau Blvd.
Cathedral City, CA 92234

The Saturday night dinner and dance will be held there complete with a DJ playing those "Oldies but Goodies".

When Sue announced the site it hit home that we are really going to do this! I wanted to make reservations on the spot. But wait, Sue is dealing with the hotel for a better group rate that will be posted here as soon as it comes available.

If you are in touch with any body, who knows anybody, who knows a West Covina High School Class of 1963 classmate get the word to them.

Woe is me and the horse I rode in on. Just now looking at some info on how to promote this blog to get more attention, thus find classmates, I read this, "This sharing option, along with future Blogger and Google+ integrations, is available to users who have linked their Google+ profile or Google+ page to their blogs so that they can blog and share to Google+ under the same common name."   Far beyond my ken, is all I can say. I need my grandson to come visit to get this sorted out!

Would be nice if it just said, " to promote your blog do this; 1., 2., 3.,....".
This old folk is just saying.

This blog was opened to help find classmates and promote our upcoming 50th year reunion. Since publishing a homepage and putting up a Facebook page, 33 contacts have come in. It tickles me pink to hear from or of these guys and I list them as FOUND on our www.wchs63reunion.com !

On the sad side I asked of them to tell me of classmates who have died so to include them In Memory on our website. I knew of some long passed, but a few new-to-me came in and their names hit me like a thunder clap. Memories streamed through my mind of days long ago, bright smiles on faces no more. They made a difference in my life long ago, but are missed this day.

Last evening I put out a request for a typed list of classmates. George Daniels '63 stepped right up and knocked it out of the park! He sent me a complete typed .xl list that I will be able to sort into lost, found.

Sad fact is, I will have to have a third category so as to hold our departed classmates in memory. I just heard of the loss of Ron Jaensen and earlier this year the loss of Danny Milliron. RIP
